I really think that trying to make a person with ADHD conform to the silly rules in society is a big waste of time.
I came to this conclusion when I did junior high school in a different country.
Agree that these cultural expectations are nonsense, and then provide workarounds. Discuss ways to avoid major clashes.
Focus on positives, and let the silly people play their silly games.
Rise above the rubbish.
I have a 14 year old son and he has ADHD, possibly autism and he is out of control. I don’t know what to do.
If you haven’t yet, read Ross Green’s book, “The Explosive Child.” His approach will turn things around.

Our son is 11 and we are having a tough time too. He has a hard time with school and has become really oppositional. He recently told me he was anxious at school – stomach aches, headaches and always nervous about getting in trouble or being laughed at. He also has been struggling with some depression, which seems to stem from all the above. Come to find out anxiety shows similar symptoms to ADHD, and his anxiety is more than likely the primary diagnosis with ADHD being secondary. Who knew they were similar? We will probably be starting depression medication soon which would help with the anxiety and possibly lower his ADHD dosage. It’s been tough and we’re not close to it being over, but we are all our kids have. Keep digging for answers and hang in there.
