Alex and his best friend and soul mate, Joanne, grew up in the South of England in the 80s, moving their family west in 2020, away from a heavily populated area to the much quieter Cornwall. This offered them and their four children better access to beautiful outdoor spaces which they value immensely for helping keep everyone’s mental health in good standing. Spending time in the sea and hiking in the stunning countryside is important to them, helping balance a busy work life with the logistics of running a multiplex ASD household filled will colourful, neurodivergent characters.
Alex discovered he had ADHD at 39 years old. Two years later and this discovery has profoundly changed the way he views his life and the decisions he makes, whilst allowing him to be at peace with how his hectic ‘always-on’ brain functions, realizing he’s been in a constant battle between trying to do the expected neurotypical things when he really craves - and needs - creativity in his life.
Alex is an IT Architect by trade who loves to write creatively and is working on a couple of books inspired by a multitude of vivid dreams. He recently started a blog centred around ADHD prompted by his interest in how people with ADHD can understand and maximize their potential. He will be sharing some of his experiences and how he believes a few subtle changes in the way adults and institutions behave, could help neurodivergent children have an easier start in life. If someone somewhere finds them useful, he will be a happy camper. You can find him occasionally blogging at www.adhdis.me
