Understanding Meds
“Are different medications prescribed for ADD and ADHD? My doctor prescribed Adderall, but I’m not hyperactive.”
Although ADHD remains the official term for all attention-related disorders, some people use the term “ADD” for a person who is primarily inattentive and “ADHD” for a person who is also hyperactive and/or impulsive. The medications prescribed for AD/HD work against all three symptoms, but they affect people differently. I urge you to try the medication your doctor prescribed before making any assumptions about its effectiveness.
