Transition Goals for IEP
“I am working with a high school student who will graduate soon. Her parents are wondering what type of transition goals to put in the IEP. She wants to go to a community college after graduation. She is a student with ADHD.” – PJP, Iowa

Transition strategies should include testing accommodations based on her need. They may include additional time on testing, preferential seating in a large lecture class, additional time on written tests. Match her abilities to the accommodations.
Suggest parents have a educational battery done prior to community college to help see her strengths and weaknesses. It is easier to write a plan when you know what she can and cannot do.
