“You Down with ADD? So Is This Family!”

YouTube’s favorite viral family is at it again with a video explaining the ups and downs of living with ADHD (and loving someone who has it).

The Holderness family — Dad Penn, Mom Kim, and kids Lola and Penn Charles — became a YouTube sensation with their 2013 video “XMAS JAMMIES,” a live-action Christmas card set to the tune of Will Smith’s “Miami.” Wearing matching — you guessed it! — Christmas-themed jammies, they rap about the year’s accomplishments, from Mom’s brief stint in Ironman 3 to Dad’s decision to quit his job and start an at-home video production company. The mixture of wholesome family fun and shameless self-promotion was a hit, and the original video has been viewed more than 16 million times on YouTube.

Then came a back-to-school ditty called “Baby Got Class” and a Thanksgiving jam called “All About That Baste.” Now, the Holderness family is venturing into ADHD symptoms and stigma with their latest video, “You Down With ADD?”

A parody of Naughty By Nature’s “O.P.P.,” the song opens with Lola finding the remote in the fridge (again!). From there, Dad raps about his experience with the disorder and how it affects his relationships. He explains that even though it makes things like listening or following-through a little harder, ADHD also makes him more creative, more outgoing, and all-around more lovable. The video touches on the “space cadet” stereotype, as well as the often-amusing consequences of ADHD symptoms like inattention and distractibility. Watch it below:
