Sexual Addiction

“I’ve been married 11 years and have had 6 affairs. I can’t stop; the impulses just rip me apart. Therapy, books, medications don’t seem to help. Is there any hope for me? I can’t live with the guilt anymore.”

There is always hope. Sex and Love (SLAA) Addicts Anonymous has helped many recover from the behaviors you have described. You indicated that you have tried many things, but did not mention support groups.

SLAA is a 12-step, 12-tradition fellowship based on the principles Alcoholics Anonymous that has helped millions. If you can not live with the guilt anymore, it sounds like you are willing to go to any lengths to stop. SLAA is a program for people who want it, not for people who need it. To find out more, you can visit slaafws.org.

A variety of printed pamphlets are available that address many questions and concerns you might have. Support group members who have been where you can provide a great source of comfort and support. I pray you’ll always have hope whether you find it in SLAA or elsewhere. Even extremely impulsive people can and do change. I wish you well and admire your willingness to keep trying.
