Any recommendations on how to get on same page as a now ex-spouse? (We recently separated due to stress of situation that has increased in teen years)
We classically tend to be permissive/authoritative extremes….we both find it difficult to change our ways.
Teen has ADD — ODD (suspected)
Teen won’t take stimulants for ADD.
How do you deal with a teen who has habituated yelling and cursing in response to parental interactions regarding things the teen doesn’t want to deal with or do? Sometimes he’s quick to apologize after the outburst, but still doesn’t make progress with the task he’s avoiding. He also says, “OK” to reminders, but doesn’t take action until hours later if he does anything at all.
