While working for companies during the first 20 years of my career Going to bed at 1030 and waking at 700 was a habit i started in the army (waking at 630) and continued .The late evening news was seldom on this early and there were no other distractions back in the day 1961 to 1981. After then, working for myself and not leaving till 630 – 700 pm because of traffic and the quiet two hours of accomplishment entered the picture and it was hard to wind down by 11.00 Eventually the 11pm news became a comfort ending event but the wake up time became 730 then 745 Finally with Cable news now runnimg to 12 am The wake up time after 800am work began changed to 900am. Finally the morning Cable news channels followed the 9 -11. disaster and I stayed right through it til near noon Standard Tine. I was hooked. The late times were set and there was only one way to solve it.
I retired and set up what eventually became my 2:00 am sleep time followed by 11:00 am wake time. Retirement was the only solution for this Fringe Benefit Consultant . Unfortunately this 3 time divorced, marriage failure, took another 8 years to learn I was ADHD and so far have managed to avoid medication while i have weaned myself from 3 liters of coffee a day. 2 sugars has been replaced by 2 sweeteners and now I can start on medication and a normal sleeping time.
