  1. I’m a 69-year-old male who was diagnosed late in life. I’ve tried medication solutions for my ADHD for 8 to 9 years, but nothing has worked. The lowest dose of stimulants gives me energy but does not stimulate improvements in cognitive function, and higher doses just get me jacked up and anxious. None of the issues listed in this article pertain to me. I understand the need, and I’m motivated to try anything that can help. I’ve given up on medication solutions simply because nothing that I’ve tried–with the help of a dedicated, innovative, and genuinely concerned psychiatrist–has made a single iota of difference. I encourage others to give medication a try. I know that it helps many people and that it can make a huge difference. I wish that that were true for me. But, from experience, I’ve discovered that management for me, needs to come from other places.
