How Does Behavior Therapy Work?

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that doctors prescribe behavior therapy before medicine for preschoolers with ADHD. Sadly, fewer than half do. Don't be on the wrong side of treatment for your child — whatever her age.

  1. “to use commands (“Sit down, please”) and not questions (“Why won’t you sit down?”) and to be specific (“You need to sit in the chair and not wiggle while I tie your shoelaces”).”

OOuuff Commands? YIKES!!! And then the parent wonders why a kid turns around and pulls commands on a parent. And then a parent pulls this dominant game of ‘it’s for me, but not for thy.” – the hypocrisy is real in this article.

Lazy, domineering parents pull commands and treat their kids like subservient beings.

Here’s an idea – Why not just take your time and explain to a child WHY it is important that they sit? Kids are not daft robots.

When you show loving respect to your kid, it actually creates a ripple effect and also shows them the importance of WHY it would be BEST for them to do certain things in a certain manner.
