My son was like this during the pandemic but also BEFORE the pandemic (both my kids were virtual and it was awful lol).
He has an IEP/504 plan but even IN school he struggles to get any work done and pass.
I go to all of his meetings, his team says hes getting all of the AcCoMmoDaTiOnS he qualifies for.
IF I stand over him and micromanage him he does AMAZING. If I leave him to his own devices he usually fails several courses for that grading period.
I also have ADHD (as well as slow processing speed, EFD, depression, anxiety, and he has all this stuff as well, fun times!) so it’s exhausting, nevermind the stress it causes between the two of us.
I feel like the “accommodations” are basically useless to be honest.
He needs to be in a much smaller classroom w/more one on one attention, but this has never been given to us as an option.
Anytime he scores really high, they think he’s just simply “improving” and “turning a corner”, what they dont see is me basically being my son’s puppet master, Ive tried to tell them over and over, and they dont seem to get it.
If I just decided to never be his task master hed probably just flunk out of high school.
I just want to scream.
