Forget Meds! Shopping at Target Is the Best ADHD Therapy

I planned to go to Target for toilet paper, and left with a $243 bill. Just another shopping trip for an adult with ADHD.

  1. This is absolutely me. Every. Single. Time. And now that the kids are grown and I have 6 grandkids, the impulsivity starts with one item for one child, and justification for buying equally for all grandbabies and that takes a LOT of time and focus. My husband, without fail on EVERY shopping trip, “What are you STARING at?” (Im not staring, Im hyperfocused on the perfect purchase decisions…)

  2. Wow, this explains me exactly. Even though in this past year, I have done much better with shopping and spending money, I still have my days. This article reminds me that I am not alone.

  3. Another timely, ironic article from ADditude! Shopped at Target for the first time in over a year just yesterday. It went EXACTLY as described, sans children. And since my list included resume paper, it was the office and art shooed that really sucked me in.

And despite going back to the $1-3 section and returning at least 1/2 of the stuff (it’s true, I really PUT THINGS BACK!) I was still shocked st the total price st check out!
And no, they don’t carry resume paper.
