"Dear Mom of a Newly Diagnosed Kid with ADHD"

"You are worried right now. You don’t know what’s ahead of you: what ADHD treatment might work today, what treatment might work tomorrow. How your child might negotiate this grade, the next one, the one after that, college, the real world. You just want to wrap him or her in a protective mama hug and keep them safe."

  1. I so needed this today. We just started meds this morning and, even though I know I’m my head there’s an “adjustment period”, I’m already feeling defeated by the side effects; my momma heart is breaking seeing my sweet babe all “down in the dumps”. I came to this site to find a pick me up and stubbled onto this article. Thanks so much for the boost.

  2. I just want to thank you for writing this. My twin boys who are six just got diagnosed with ADHD. The way you explained everything is the exactly the way I am feeling. Even with all the tools in today’s world. . . you can feel very lost with which way to go.
I thank you again for creating this article.

  3. If this doesn’t say it all in a nutshell.. How many times I have mourned. It breaks my heart what they miss during the years & when other parents of neurotypical children experience this or that and my child does not it makes me mad & breaks my heart! It’s a long haul, but I’m in it for the duration I will never give up on my son! Thank you so much for posting this blog, just being able to read it & reread it when it’s a tough time helps!!
