The Right Way to Take a Drug Holiday

Thinking of taking a break from your ADHD medication? If you want to give yourself (or your child) a "drug holiday," do it the right way — consider timing and therapy, and don't quit cold turkey.

  1. ‘Does not cause withdrawal symptoms’, are you kidding me? How much more transparently can you align yourselves with the likes of pharmaceutical companies which designate abnormalities after going off of SSRI’s ‘cold turkey’ “SSRI Discontinuation Syndrome”, no, it’s not a “syndrome”, it’s called WITHDRAWAL. While that statement, understatement, actually, does likely apply to things like Strattera, I’d hope any publication ‘representing’ the masses with ADHD(PI or not), would be well aware that the majority of prescribed medications are within the description of amphetamine, amphetamine derivates or salts, and methylphenidate, whether on a ER or not. All of these being *clinically proven* to have a high affinity for physiological dependency, and create genuinely awful symptoms upon discontinuation.
