  1. I disagree. DEI hiring is based on someone’s physical, mental, emotional, ethnicity and gender. DEI does not promote or support merit based hiring. That is not sustainable and never could be. I have adhd. I have held jobs and had my own business for 13 years. I never wanted special treatments. Its up to me to figure it out and I did. It takes me a little longer to learn and remember, but once I’ve got it, I’ve got it and wirk harder and faster than my NT coworkers.

  2. I have to disagree. DEI has done me no favors. I have been laughed at by members of DEI offices when asking how I can be assisted by them with my neurodivergence. I would much rather have the tried and true strength of the ADA behind me any day. There are clear cut guidelines and I know they “see” me.

  3. DEI is racist and discriminatory and is right to be eliminated. The best candidate should get hired and promoted based off of their merits.

    “Neurodivergence” is Orwellian Newspeak Psychobabble trying to polish over mental illnesses with maladaptive properties, which ADHD definitely falls under.

    As an intelligent person with ADHD, if I had two otherwise identical candidates except for one had ADHD and the other one didn’t I would NEVER hire the one with ADHD because I know how how difficult it is for them to function at work. Very intelligent ADHD people can certainly do jobs, but not nearly at the level they could if they didn’t have it. Despite what some people seem to think, ADHD isn’t a superpower.

    It shouldn’t be the employers job to make all kinds of exceptions and shoulder the burden of making a special environment for ADHD people to function within-it should be the job of the employee to show up ready and capable of doing their job. It’s embarrassing, cringey and uncomfortable to expect the world to make all kinds of exceptions for ADHD people to function. It’s not your bosses ADHD…we should own it and fix it on a personal level.
