2 Comments: How to Tame the Tics Associated with ADHD Medication

  1. Ritalin (and other stimulants) left me with permanent motor tics for the rest of my life. (I’m 36, i went cold turkey when i was 16)

The tics were severe, motor and phonic, painful, extremely socially disruptive (i was in 4th grade and up, and was bullied so severely…) and the doctor tried guanfacine with no result. They tried different things, not certainly didn’t try not medicating me.

I’m still suffering with moderate motor tics today. They can be painful and exacerbate the “tennis elbow “and other repetitive motion injuries.

    Im still angry about this.

    1. Stimulants do not cause tics. This is outdated information. You’re comorbidity causes your condition.
