As usual, this article was not helpful at all. If the mood changes only show up WHEN the child takes medication, how is this an indication of an “underlying mood disorder”? That’s not logical at all. My kid is happy and fun normally, and when the medication kicks in, he becomes super depressed. Then when it wears off, he’s happy again. That’s not an underlying disorder, that’s a side effect proper. It’s CAUSED by the medication.
I wish we had better solutions. More research needed!
any insight on how to handle MORNING mood swings? He’s unbearable until meds kick-in but don’t give it until he leaves for school (so he eats).
