"Don’t Let Your Child Be Saddled with Band-Aid Accommodations"

Are your child’s IEP accommodations really helping him grow as a student?

  1. Not an IEP by the time you get to college, but between growing up not having any accommodations made (my parents refused to believe me being ADHD was even a possibility, even after a school I went to had me be evaluated by a counselor), I was worried about Band-Aid fixes when I determined I needed accommodations to make it through my college homework. I feel like there is such a fine line between helpful and not having to do the work that it gets blurred sometimes. So far, everything has worked out wonderfully, but there are times it still feels like a tough balance.
