Job Interview Skills
“I’m fine on the job, but my anxiety and lack of social skills are big problems for me in job interviews. How can I improve?”
First, identify the skills you need to bolster. Do you have trouble maintaining eye contact? Are you prone to interrupting? In my book, What Does Everybody Else Know That I Don’t?, you’ll find a social skills checklist. This will make it easier to pinpoint problem areas. Or, videotape a practice interview with your spouse or a friend. Once you see yourself on tape, it should be easy to spot what you need to work on.
Once you’ve pinpointed what needs improvement, an ADHD coach who has experience working with adults and career counseling can be a great help. Remember, practice makes a big difference.
