Test anxiety can be a big problem for ADD students – often, they know the material but have trouble demonstrating that they do. Visualization is a relaxation technique that boosts confidence and allows students to recall information with accuracy and ease.
Have your child follow these steps before each day’s study session.
1. Set a timer for 10 minutes.
2. Sitting at your desk, close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths.
3. Picture yourself taking the test. Visualize success: You know every answer. Imagine that your perfect responses fill the paper.
4. Feel your confidence grow as you watch yourself completing a perfect exam.
In study hall or in class, just before the exam, he can do a two-minute version of this exercise.
