      Hello Rene,
Thanks for the response. I’ve heard of the CHADD group site also. Welcome to Syracuse NY, I’m recently diagnosed with ADHD (37) so I’m trying to understand everything about this. Would enjoy to hear your story and your struggles in everyday life. I have found this website extremely helpful for gaining knowledge. Let me know what works best to connect.

      Hey PJB3,
I got dx at age 39, im 46 now. Yes lets chat n exchange stories. Im sure there are many parallels due to late dx. Support of other ADHD’ers is so extremely helpful- doesnt take place of treatment but it makes things a whole lot easier. You can txt me at 720-955-3013 or email me at rjorfoote@gmail.com

Looking forward to meeting another ADHD’er in the area! Ive been looking on meet up to see if there is a local group but so far- nothing. But that is not surprising bc lets be honest, that kind if organization among us is a unicorn!!! Lol lol lol!

      Ttys,
      Rene

I am from the area too. And I feel like I am losing my mind trying to find a doctor who actually understands ADHD. Is there anyone in the SYR or Finger Lakes area that knows of a good doctor who isn’t ignorant about this condition?

I just talked to a doctor at Upstate adult psychiatry clinic and she said she wouldn’t prescribe me my Adderall and clonazepam (clonazepam is taken only in emergency, a couple times a month), and she never prescribes both of those things together. Which is a red flag to me because it illustrates she is ignorant of the realities of ADHD and anxiety. I also went to a private doctor which cost over $400 for one visit and the woman was completely ignorant of ADHD. My current doctor pushes drugs on me that don’t do anything for my ADHD and makes me feel ashamed for taking Adderall. I feel like I am losing my mind, I have looked high and low and I feel so desperate just to hear someone tell me that they understand instead of looking at me like I am nuts or a drug addict.
