My husband and I are seeing a talented ADHD counselor who works hard to make gentle suggestions to my husband (the latest was, “maybe if you try sending more time with your wife you might find you enjoy it”), but even then my spouse becomes defiant and purposefully doesn’t do the suggestion or does it wrong out of rebellion.

While I’m glad I’m not the only one my husband rebels against, it has me seriously wondering if therapy will work at all! Has anyone had a similar experience?

The only way I got through to my husband was direct punishment for bad behaviour, and direct reward for food behaviour. Every time he responded appropriately I thanked and praised him, if he didn’t I ignored him. I know it seems weird for a grown man, but it works! Simple but effective
