hi, I’m trying to get my dad diagnosed with ADHD because I’m almost certain he has it. my only problem is I don’t know if I’m necessarily allowed to help and talk about the things I have noticed while he’s getting diagnosed. I have ADHD myself but I’m not sure how valued my thoughts and information will be to the physician as I’m still just a kid but I’m the only one pushing for him to get diagnosed in the first place so I’m in a bit of a pickle and in need of some advise.
Is your father receptive to your opinions and thoughts on the subject? Considering how hereditary it is known to be, I would think that, given permission from your father, the doctors may value your input very much. That is the key though, your Dad has to tell them that he values your observations and ask the doctor to consider your input.
~speaking as a Mom who was Dx by her 10yo son. A year ago 😉 We take our appointments together and help each other tremendously.
