My 16 year old son’s IEP meeting was supposed to to take place the week after our schools were closed for Covid. We will also be remote in fall. Do I have any way to force the school to complete the IEP? I asked for it to be completed remotely before the end of last school year but was refused. He needs accommodations more than ever with remote learning. We are in California.

IDEA is still the law and schools still need to follow the law. If you request again and they refuse again, it would be a good idea to find an educational advocate or attorney to help you force them to comply with the law. You could also let them know you’re willing to file a federal Discrimination Complaint — that usually incites compliance.
