I was wondering if somebody could explain to me how Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) works? I’ve heard it is somewhat controversial but I don’t really know much about it. I know I could benefit from therapy but I’m not sure if CBT is a good option for me. What exactly happens during a CBT session?

CBT was hugely successful for me in college. It basically helps you to retrain your brain about false beliefs like, “I can’t do things.” or “I’m dumb.” Neither of which are true, but when your brain believes them, you act like they’re true. Plus you get lots of skills for managing behavior. I found it to be pretty empowering. 🙂
