I was diagnosed with adult ADHD (combined) about 15 years.
I was on Ritalin (Methylphenidate) for ~7 years. It worked great initially, but slowly began to lose its efficacy.
I then switched to Adderall (Amphetamine). Although it didn’t work as well as Ritalin, it was OK. But it gradually became ineffective.
I switched back to Ritalin about 6 months back, and it seems to work, although not as well as it used to be.
So I’m wondering if there is another alternative to Ritalin/Adderall.
My PCP suggested Vynase (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate); but my health insurance does not cover it and Vynase is very expensive.
I have seen the following listed as alternative medications for ADHD:
:: Focalin (Dexmethylphenidate); Dexedrine (amphetamine)
: Strattera (atomoxetine hydrochloride)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.
(My current dosage is Ritalin 20 mg X twice daily)
