      Hi all,

I haven’t been using this site long, but it helps to know there are many other people out there that have the same things going on as me. To keep this short I won’t tell you much about the symptoms I have been experiencing, but I have recently sent an ADHD referral letter off through my doctor and was wondering how long it normally takes to get an appointment with a specialist in adult adhd? Until recently I wasn’t even aware that there were adults who suffered adhd and just thought it was a childhood thing (I know very ignorant of me), but I watched a television programme which revealed to me that I may have been suffering from this for life and that the external structure of my parents has helped me to get through school, with good grades. I dug up my old school reports and there were so many comments about inattention, not living up to my ability etc. I’m 27 now and have a fairly good job, but I could be doing a lot better than I am and I’ve realised recently that I have never planned anything in my entire life and have just fallen into these situations and some how landed on my feet. I’m from England so it might be best if people that have gone through a similar experience, in England, could answer the question.

Thanks, in advance, for the help.

I think it’s going to depend on how many specialists are in your area and what their availability looks like. Here in the states, it could take 2-4 weeks, up to 9 months.
