A good psychologist will look at a bunch of different factors when making an adult diagnosis. Most ADHD people are very bright and might not necessarily have trouble learning as children. But, their symptoms might have been present in childhood in other ways, like excessive daydreaming, lack of attention, forgetfulness, clumsiness, losing things, interrupting, hyperactivity, trouble with social cues, sleep problems, etc.
