Depakote and Tegretal
“What would be a good medication to use in conjunction with Tegretal and Depakote for management of ADHD symptoms?”
Depakote and Tegretal are primarily used to treat bipolar disorder. I suspect this is the reason you or your child is on it. About 50 percent of those with bipolar also have ADHD. When this is true, the Ritalin/Dexedrine/Adderall group works best. Often it is necessary to treat the bipolar problem first and then the ADHD. If one starts with Ritalin, the bipolar might be exacerbated. This may be why Ritalin caused hyperactivity originally.
