Self Esteem

Compliment Your Teen

Give ADHD teens the feedback they need with frequent, positive reinforcements.

ADHD teens often hear negative comments on a daily basis. “You left your room a mess.” “I can’t believe you forgot your book at school.” “Do you realize that is the third jacket you have lost?”

“Catch” your kid doing something well, and leave a complimentary note on the refrigerator. It may read, “Thanks for putting your dishes in the dishwasher without being told” or “I was excited to see your math test grade. Way to go!”

Notes like these give ADHD teens the positive feedback they need, and they also demonstrate how to give compliments to others, a valuable skill in building friendships.
