Battling Unjust Insurance

How one gutsy ADHD adult got her insurance company to pay for ADHD medications.

While at the pharmacy, I discovered that my insurance would cover ADHD medicine only for children.

My doctor, the pharmacist, and I all called and argued with the insurance company. One of its doctors told me that I did not need medicine. By this point in my life, he said, I should have learned to control my behavior and hyperactivity.

I was embarrassed, and so angry that I was in tears, but the pharmacist and other customers were all encouraging me to fight for what I needed. In the end, the insurance company agreed to pay for one of the generic ADHD medications.
