After a few minutes speaking with Kristen Caven, people either say “You’re amazing,” “You’re a Renaissance woman,” or just back away slowly when she starts listing all the things she is doing or has done. She was a cartoonist in college, began dancing in her twenties, wrote screenplays and musicals in her thirties, and novels in her forties. She has co-authored three psychology books including The Bullying Antidote (#CommissionsEarned), and holds a certificate in Positive Psychology. Approaching the world creatively with an interest in well-being, she writes passionately, teaches dance, and leads a seminar series called The Flourishing Artist (#CommissionsEarned).

Kristen’s literary offerings, from graphic novels to greeting cards to books on heavy topics (see kristencaven.com), all aim to illuminate, enlighten, inspire, and amuse. Her insight, charm and detailed hyperfocus tend to push her into leadership roles, where she takes her work but not herself seriously.

And she owes it all to ADHD, which she calls “Awesomeness Development & Happiness Directive.” When Kristen’s son was diagnosed in 10th grade, she began to see her own boundless (a.k.a. hyperactive) imagination in a new light. Kristen has written for ADDitude Magazine since 2013 and is shaping her blog, Life in the Fast Brain, into a book.
