Kathryn Welby is the director of teacher preparation programs and a faculty member at Merrimack College. Dr. Welby teaches a wide variety of special education courses. Her current research and professional goal is to improve distance learning for children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Her first book, Remote Learning Strategies for Students with IEPs: An Educators Guidebook (#CommissionsEarned) will be released Spring 2021 and is available for pre-order. Other research includes the investigation of schools located in opioid crisis regions and the impact the epidemic is having on students, school districts and educators.
Additionally, she has an extensive background presenting research and professional development nationally for teachers and administrators. Dr. Welby holds Massachusetts licensures as a special education administrator, principal, moderate disabilities teacher, and an elementary teacher and brings years of practitioner experience into her course development, teaching, publishing, research, and professional development.
