Joseph Biederman, M.D.

Joseph Biederman, M.D., is Chief of the Clinical and Research Programs in Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Adult ADHD at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Director of the Alan and Lorraine Bressler Clinical and Research Program for Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and Professor of Psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Biederman is Board Certified in General and Child Psychiatry.

Dr. Biederman has been a mentor to more than 15 junior investigators in the field. He is on the editorial board of multiple journals, a reviewer for many Psychiatric journals, and has served as a grant reviewer in the Child Psychopathology and Treatment Review Committee of the NIMH. Dr. Biederman is the author and co-author over 800 scientific articles, 650 scientific abstracts, and 70 book chapters.

In October 2007, Dr. Biederman was ranked as the second highest producer of high-impact papers in psychiatry overall throughout the world by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). The same organization ranked Dr. Biederman at #1 in terms of total citations to his papers published on ADD/ADHD in the past decade. In 2014, Thompson Reuters named Dr. Biederman on their list of The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds, as ranking in the top 1% by citations for the field of psychiatry. Dr. Biederman's work is supported by multiple federal and pharmaceutical industry grants.
