I am a passionate writer, avid reader, and perpetual student of life who excels at solving puzzles and relishes in the pleasure of word play.
My insatiable desire for knowledge has led me to studying creative writing, avionics, English, forensic science, and jewelry design.
In 2022, I started my jewelry business, Iris Madison, where I create one-of-a-kind designs using thrifted, gifted, and selected beads. In 2024, I created my first blog, And On the Mind Goes, where I discuss life, marriage, parenting, and work while managing my ADHD, bipolar II, and anxiety. Through my blog, I also share my experience of raising two daughters: my teen with ADHD, anxiety, and emerging bipolar disorder, and my 9-year-old with Down syndrome.
I hone my craft by entering contests and taking part in writing workshops, while also sharing my love of writing with high schoolers, teaching 10th grade English and AP Language and Composition. I push my students to challenge themselves, find their voice, and fall in love with the art of writing.
It's important for me to share my stories with others. I hope that through my vulnerability and honesty, I can help others feel less alone, and do my part to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental illness.
