Q: What If I Can’t Afford an ADHD Coach?

ADHD coaching provides customized goals, strategies, and systems to clients. They are also not cheap. If you can’t afford one right now, here is another way to tap into an ADHD hive mind near you for help.

Q: “Why are attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD or ADD) coaches so expensive? Are there any effective alternatives that cost less?”  ADHDerMom

Hi ADHDerMom:

It’s tough to replace the individualized attention you receive from an ADHD coach. They help you set personal goals, create systems and structures for everyday tasks, stay motivated, and provide that necessary accountability that keeps us from giving up. That said, there are some methods that can help cover the cost, like writing ADHD coaching off your taxes or asking your workplace about its policies.

Still, apart from treatment provided by clinicians and therapists, there are other ways for you to get the ADHD support and connections you might need.

Have you heard of CHADD? CHADD is Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. It was founded in 1987 in response to the frustration and sense of isolation experienced by parents and their children with ADHD. Its chapters provide education, advocacy, and ADHD support as well as an annual conference.

When you join CHADD, you get access to your local chapter. This is one of the best ways to connect with local resources and find people who you can share and connect with.

The professionals already involved in your ADHD treatment can also advise on alternative approaches and treatments to manage symptoms.
