5 Tips for Feeding ADHD Kids

Nutrition rules to live - and eat - by.

The more you can adjust your schedule to accommodate your child's needs, says pediatrician James Lewis, the more you can avoid chaotic mealtimes and increase your child's chances of getting enough calories and nutrition.

  1. Awaken early to prepare breakfast before your child gets up.

  2. Prepare mini-meals and snacks in advance for the rest of the day.

  3. Store plenty of quick-to-fix and ready-to-eat foods in your refrigerator, freezer, and cupboards.

  4. Substitute a snack for a traditional meal when your child seems uninterested in eating what you've cooked.

  5. Know your child's food preferences and stock his favorite items.

Have you tried healthy cookies made with applesauce or whole grains instead of normal sugarfilled treats? Make life easy on yourself...if he'll eat something, don't fight him on it, just make whatever it is healthy. Does sugar not affect him negatively? I can hardly give my daughter sugar without her going crazy. Bottom line... ADD isn't black and white...you gotta choose your battles. Find a way to get your way without challenging him. That applies to more than just food.

    JUNK FOOD
MY 5 YEAR OLD DOESN'T HAVE AN APPETIETE AFTER SCHOOL, I KNOW THIS IS BECAUSE HE IS ON HIS MEDICATION. HE WILL EAT COOKIES OR OTHER UNHEALTHY FOODS SOMETIMES. IS THAT BETTER THAN NOTHING?
