Stimulant Dosage

"My son takes a larger dose than my friend's son, even though they share similar age, weight, and height. Did our doctor make a mistake?"

by Larry Silver, M.D.

The appropriate dosage for stimulants has nothing to do with a patient's age, weight, or height. It's based on the length of time required for the medication to enter that particular person's bloodstream. As long as the medication is helping your son, and he's not troubled by side effects, your doctor probably didn't make a mistake.
