Medication and Seizures

"My daughter has been treated for seizures, and her neurologist said Strattera could cause more. Which medications are safe?"

by Larry Silver, M.D.

Stimulants are generally safe. Imipramine and other tri-cyclic antidepressants generally are not. The literature on Strattera does not indicate that the medication should be avoided by individuals with seizure disorders. Your neurologist, who knows which type of seizure your daughter is prone to, should be able to prescribe an appropriate drug.
