Try a Tricyclic

"My 10-year-old has tried several stimulant medications, and the side effects always outweigh the benefits. Is there anything else?"

by Larry Silver, M.D.

Ask the doctor about trying a tricyclic antidepressant. At low doses, these non-stimulant drugs can work as well as the stimulants without the same side effects. If your physician is unfamiliar with this group of medications, see the chapter on medication in my book, Dr. Larry Silver's Advice to Parents on ADHD.
