ADHD and Genetics

"Is there anything my son and his wife can do to minimize the chances of having a child with ADD?"

by Larry Silver, M.D.

We see evidence that about 50 percent of people with ADHD seem to have inherited it; that is, there is a familial pattern. However, we have no way yet of fully understanding what this pattern is. There is no way they can minimize the chance that their child might have ADHD. However, if this child does, they will identify it early and be sure he/she receives proper help.
