Dry Mouth as a Side EffectFiled Under: Side Effects of ADHD Meds, ADHD Stimulant Medications
Q:
"My stimulant gives me an extremely dry mouth, and I've had a lot of cavities in the years I've been taking it. Could these conditions be connected?"
A:
A chronically dry mouth does increase the risk of dental problems, but dry mouth is a very unusual side effect of stimulant medications. If you're convinced that they're connected, ask your doctor about trying a different medication.
