Homeopathy for ADHD?

"A co-worker keeps urging me to get off ADHD medication and get treated by a homeopathic doctor. Can homeopathy really help?"

Dr. Larry Silver specializes in treating children with attention deficit disorder (ADHD).

Homeopathic treatments have not been proven to help ADHD. If your co-worker is not a friend, you can say, "Thank you, but I accept the advice of my physician."

If she is a friend, you might say that you checked into homeopathy for ADHD and learned that there is no scientific evidence that proves it works.

Larry Silver, M.D., is clinical professor of psychiatry at Georgetown Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and director of training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is a former acting director and deputy director of the National Institute of Mental Health, as well as the author of Dr. Larry Silver's Advice to Parents on AD/HD and The Misunderstood Child: Understanding and Coping with Your Child's Learning Disabilities.
