When Medication Causes Stuttering

Q:

"I have been having problems with stuttering and finishing sentences. Is this the result of Wellbutrin?"

Dr. Larry Silver specializes in treating children with attention deficit disorder (ADHD).
A:

Stuttering might occur on Wellbutrin. Discuss this with the doctor prescribing the medication. You probably should be on a different medication.

    Stuttering and Wellbutrin
I had the same problem when I was taking 300 mg of Wellbutrin. When the doc lowered the dosage to 150 the stuttering disappeared. I do occassionally have trouble recalling words but since the Wellbutrin seems to be the best med for my depression I don't want to change meds.
