Tips
The best advice I can give you is to start a very "baby step" type of organization system as soon as possible. Students with ADHD need everything to be visually available, meaning that if they can't see it in front of them, it doesn't exist. So, when it comes to getting ready in the morning, write a very specific (step-by-step) list of things to do in the morning. Break it down as much as possible so the child knows EXACTLY what he or she is supposed to do. Keep in mind, it will take a while to form this habit; You need to just keep reinforcing it and guiding your child through it for a while.
With regard to homework, I find that chunking is a pretty effective strategy. By that I mean ask your child to do only one tiny part of an assignment at a time. If it's a math worksheet, only the first 2 problems. When you do that, literally cover up the rest of the page so he or she can't even see it, because if they can see it then it's causing him or her to become overwhelmed because they can't filter out excess visual stimuli. Also, if you're doing more than one assignment, say for example math and reading; Do 5 minutes of one subject (e.g., reading) and STOP no matter where you are in the assignment, and switch to the other subject for 5 minutes. This helps to keep the child's attention and gives him or her a break from focusing on one thing for too long. Give your child a 5 minute break after every 2 assignments they work on (10 minutes worth) and let them do whatever they need to refocus.
Hope that helps!
