My son talks to himself...is it part of ADD?

Hi all, My son has been diagnosed with ADD and clearly does have the symptoms. The school asked us to take him to a neurologist because he also has tics and walks on the balls of his feet. The neurologist said this is a sensory issue and part of ADD. She said no further tests need to be done. Today the special ed teacher told me she's also concerned because he talks to himself. She wants to the neurologist to know this. I thought it was part of ADD??? It seems she's hinting at something else. Do any of you know if it's a normal part of ADD?
