Side Effects from Vyvanse

My 13 year old son has been on Concerta at varying doses for 5 years. Now in 8th grade, he had been bumped up to 56mg but was suffering from a concerning lack of appetite. As an avid athlete, I was really concerned as he was losing muscle and experiencing exhaustion and weakness. His Concerta also seemed less effective but I was reluctant to move his dosage up further with his obvious eating concerns. His doctor opted to switch him to Vyvanse. She started him at 30mg asserting that this drug has a much lower occurance of side effects. Unfortunately it didn't assuage his ADD, and he experienced extreme difficulty concentrating. Now we are at 40mg of Vyvanse and while we aren't sure how it's going to impact his ability to focus (just back at school today after his holiday break) he cannot eat AT ALL and is having increased severity of migraines. The doctor has already told me that she will not put him on an appetite stimulant as she has never prescribed those and never will stating "he just has to eat whether or not he feels like it". I haven't called her yet to ask about something more effective for his migraines (he currently uses OTC Excedrin which is no longer effective) and I am quite certain she won't address his appetite concerns. Anyone have any suggestions? Is it time to find a new doctor? Any luck with natural appetite stimulants (with the exception of Cannibus)? Do we switch back to Concerta since at least that didn't impact the migraines as severly?

You may want to change doctors. My son was on Vvyanse for four years and did well with it. I wish you the best.
