thank God I'm not alone!!!

SO SO SO Happy to have found this site!! Proves that we are not alone on this roller coaster. My daughter is just about to turn 8 and she was diagnosed at 6 with ADHD (inattentive and impulsive). She throw tantrums like a toddler when she feels frustrated and anxious. She also shows some signs of ODD. It's been a long road getting to where we are now (she has been in counselling for a year and a half and on medication for 6 months), it took nearly 2 years after I started seeing the signs before I could have her tested and she was ultimately diagnosed. We (my fiance and I) run a very strict household since my daughter thrives best on routine and order. She usually works well at school when there is structure and suffers during unstructured time such as recess and assemblies. 2 years ago, just before her diagnosis we moved and not wanting her to start a 3rd school in less than 2 years we fudged our address so she could go back to her previous school. We made the decision this year to switch to the school she should legally be going to in hopes that she'd make some friends in our area. Turns out this was a huge mistake. The administration at this new school seems to see her simply as a problem child despite being informed before the start of the summer about her disability. I feel like I'm fighting with them everyday, it's like they refuse to accept that she's not going to fit the norm. Does anyone else feel like their school administration/teachers are constantly judging them as being horrible lazy parents? We work so hard to keep our home structured and routined. We are so strict that my mother has expressed concern that we are TOO Strict. I have considered switching her back to the old school but wonder if this would ultimately do more harm than good. I would really appreciate any info anyone has. Any tips or stories?

Crystal
