GET PARENT HANDBOOK FOR SPECIAL NEEDS AND ARTICLE 7 RULES BOOK

I have an 11 yr old grandson who is add and mild mental disability and has been on the meds since he was 7. we tried when he was younger but he had horrid reactions so they said sometimes 5 and 6 is too young to start meds.when he was 7 he started on straterra and it worked wonders for 3 yrs then he needed something different. he has been on vyvannse for the last year and slowly rose to the 70 mg dose.but after school and evenings are a mess with his moods and getting him to do and focus on homework.so we are starting the intuniv today which is saturday at 1mg with it to see if things improve.ive been reading a lot of your posts and feel some of you need to send away for these couple books.they are worth hundreds in info when dealing with schools and making out your IEPs. i just got turned onto them by a advocate it was the first thing she told me todo.order these.in indiana the number is 1 574 234 7101 or 1 800 332 4433 , if in a different state go online ; put in parents handbook for special needs and article 7 rules book.for your state. I promise you they have all the info you need from getting an IEP started to handling any problem that comes up with your child.

ADHD and Medication

I would like to comment on the fact that in the UK giving kids medication for ADHD has become something of an epidemic. There is a groundswell of public opinion that the pharmaceutical companies instigated this of this to maximize profits. Hard to believe this is allowed to happen.

The best advice that I received came from a little downloadable booklet I got for free at: http://www.cchr-london.org/adhd

This really settled the argument I was having with myself and my good-sense prevailed.

I think they still have it available.
