So, I love the idea of lists and all, but...

I know that lists are the greatest way for me to remember things I need to do or remember; however, what do you do when you don't remember you made a list for something? I have had the greatest of intentions with trying to keep things organized for myself, I buy nice new notebooks or download cool apps for my phone, but when all is said and done I have a lot of notebooks with a few pages of partial lists and a lot of apps that look better than they are useful to me.

I would believe my OCD tendencies makes my dilemna a bit worse, but other than that...how does everyone manage lists? And how do you make them part of your "routine" because I have a really hard time in creating routines for myself to manage.

Using lists

I'm so glad to hear someone else with the same complaint as me! I also have the best of intentions to get organized and implement all the necessary 'systems' but I rarely maintain any of them or revisit them. I don't know what the solution is. I know making it a habit and part of a daily or weekly routine would help but I haven't tried to just stick with anything for even a week! One thing that does help me is to put my calendar over my kitchen trash can and I write everything there. I can't miss it and don't miss an appointment and see what my week looks like all the time. If it was a calendar I'd have to remember to pull from somewhere, I'd never look at it. So maybe that's the answer to lists. Post them somewhere you,re frequently spending time. Please let me know if you've come across other ideas!

Me third!

Lists kill me. I have thousands everywhere. But it's like taking notes at school, you write it down and forget it happened... I could better rely on memory than on a list (which is interesting. I wonder if I had a bad memory--would I remember to look at a list and a list alone?).

I do know that there is one app that has helped me in the realm of cooking/cleaning. It is (of all things) a recipe app. I can create a shopping list that conviently creates itself from the recipes I choose and breaks it down into "sections" at the grocery store. I make one trip through the grocery isle, checking off each item in each section. All I had to do is move the recipe I wanted into the shopping list, VOILA!! Instant! It revolutionized my ability to cook because now I make one trip a week and all the food items I need are already in a list for me. The app is AllRecipes (but you have to buy it).

Otherwise, I can't find anything useful! Hahahhahaha.
